Red Hair Dye

Many people today like to change their hair color once in a while. Why not go for natural ingredients this time. I love brunette, blonde and black too. But below is a red color hair dye. If you can't find the herb leaves mentioned below, try to google them and buy them online.

Homemade Red Hair Dye

  • 1/4 cup dried Calendula flowers
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) red henna
  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) boiling water
  • Rubber gloves
  • Plastic bag large enough to fit over hair and scalp

Method
  1. Powder the Calendula petals in a spice mill.
  2. Sift the powdered herbs into a glass or a porcelain bowl.
  3. Never use anything metal with henna, it will affect the color.
  4. Pour boiling water over the powdered herbs in the bowl.
  5. Form a thick paste by mixing the ingredients together.

To apply
  1. Use the regular shampoo and rinse your hair.
  2. Use rubber gloves while applying the henna to your hair using a plastic or wooden spoon.
  3. Try to avoid applying the henna to your scalp.
  4. After the Henna covers the hair, massage the henna mixture to the hair ends.
  5. Cover the hair with the plastic bag on top. Secure it with a hair clip or a cloth clip.
  6. Remove the henna that might have inadvertently slipped onto your face or stuck to your hand or clothing.
  7. Let the mixture set for up to 30 to 40 minutes.
  8. Use warm water to rinse your hair thoroughly until the water runs clear.
  9. Follow this up with a regular shampoo. Rinse well with cool water.

This makes 1 treatment.
